3 MINERS KILLED IN GAS EXPLOSION.
THREE MEN MISSING ALSO BELIEVED TO HAVE DIED IN MINE.
Fernie, B.C., Aug. 30 (AP) -- Three miners were killed and three others are believed to have died in a gas explosion today in Number 1 east mine of the Crows Nest Pass Coal Company at Coal Creek, five miles from here.
The bodies of PETER BOWIE, Coal Creek, and TONY CAZOL and JOSEPH HEDROVITCH, Fernie, were recovered this afternoon.
FLOYD PERKINS, SR., TONY SPIRLAK and TONY DeGEORGIA, Fernie, are missing and there was little hope that they are alive. Rescue parties were searching for them under hazardous conditions.
The mine is the largest producing mine of the company at Coal Creek and employs several hundred men.
The accident apparently happened after the morning shift quit work for lunch.

Four Pit Men Who LOst Lives In Coal Creek Explosion Interred
FERNIE - Sep 3 - Funeral services for Peter Dowie, Joseph DeGeorgie, Casola Innocente and George Perkins, four of the victims of the blowout in No 1 East Mine, Coal Creek, were held on Sunday afternoon. Hundreds of mourners followed the cortege to St Margaret's cemetery.
On Monday morning at 9 am Requiem Mass was sung for Josep Sedrovitch and Joseph Sprlak at the Holy Family Church. The Slavonic Society attended the funeral in a body.
