Mr. Williams was born in Shepardtown, Va., on October 4, 1832. She moved to the West with her parents early in life, and 26 years ago was united in marriage to Judge Williams. They moved to Washington when Judge Williams was elected to United States senate and remained there until after the expiration of his term as senator and as attorney-general, to which office he was appointed by President Grant.
Mrs. Williams was a leader in Washington social circles, but after her return to Portland she withdrew entirely form society and devoted herself to the study of the Bible, which pursuit she continued until shortly before her death. The funeral will be private and will take place from Mrs. Williams’ late residence at 2:30 P.M. today.
