He was engaged in business and later removing to Baltimore he engaged for about 10 years in the wholesale hardware business. He was a member and trustee of the Presbyterian church; the oldest member of Potomac Lodge, Odd Fellows, and Gilead Encampment and also a member of Valley Lodge K of P.
His wife, who was a Miss Murray, died in 1887.
Surviving are five children; brother, Louis F., Hagerstown. He was an uncle of Senator Louis E. McComas.
The cremated remains came to Hagerstown Tuesday night for burial Wednesday.
