L.A. Lawson, one of Boone’s well known citizens, passed peacefully away on Saturday, morning, March 9th, at 2:44 o’clock after a short illness. For the past three years he had not been well but his condition did not become serious until a few days prior to his death. The funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock from his late residence, 1228 Story street. Rev. Carl Anderson, of Martella, a nephew of the deceased, had charge of the services. He was assisted by Rev. C.A. Randolph, of the Swedish Lutheran church. Music was furnished by the ladies quartette of the Lutheran church. The pall bearers were four sons of the deceased. The remains were laid to rest in East Linwood cemetery.

Lars Alfred Hugo Lawson was born in Brogarps in the Province of Skane, Sweden, January 28, 1836, and passed away at his home in Boone, Iowa, March 8, 1912, making him at the time of his death 76 years, 1 month and 12 days. He came to America in 1868, going to Greenvein, Illinois, and to Boone in 1876 and since made this city his home. On April 27, 1878, he married Miss Johannah Nelson, and seven children of this union remain to mourn his loss and are George, Charles, Fred, Harold, Lawrence, Mrs. Nellie Pikell and Esther. He is also survived by three grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Laura Anderson, the mother of the Rev. Carl Anderson who conducted the funeral.
