Frances W. Bush
(November 6, 1921 - January 21, 2015)

A celebration of life will be held at First Baptist Church in Columbia, Mississippi on Saturday, January 24 , 2015 for Sarah Frances Warnock Bush, 93, of Columbia, who died Wednesday, January 21, at her home in Columbia, Mississippi. Funeral services are Saturday, January 24, 2015, 2pm at First Baptist Church Columbia, MS, and will be officiated by Dr. Bryant Barnes and Rev. Thomas Thurman. Internment is at Woodlawn Cemetery. She was born on November 6, 1921 to Parks R Warnock and Ethel Frances Warren Warnock in Atlanta, Georgia. Frances graduated from Girls High School in Atlanta, Georgia and continued her education at Shorter College in Rome, Georgia where she was on the swim team and dived competitively. She met and married Dr. L. Russell Bush, Jr. in 1943 and they were married for 69 years. Frances owned the Berean Bookstore in Columbia and operated that business for 30 years. She spent her spare time painting canvasses that can be found hanging on the walls of her and her family’s homes. She enjoyed writing, as well, penning junior literature for the Baptist Sunday School Board. She received her pilot’s license in order to fly with her husband, Russell Bush. Frances is widely remembered for her sense of humor. She entertained many groups telling funny stories of her adventurous life. She was preceded in death by her father, Parks R Warnock; her mother, Ethel Warren Warnock; her brother Parks R Warnock, Jr.; her husband, Dr. L. Russell Bush, Jr. and her oldest son, Dr. L. Russ Bush, III. Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Frances Bush Young; her youngest son, John Parks Bush (Ann); daughter-in-law, Cindy Bush; six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and a eleventh to be born in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to the L. Russ Bush Center for Faith and Culture, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
