Sarah "Sally" Isaacs, a daughter of Ralph and Mary [née Peiret] Isaacs, was born in the bounds of Branford, Connecticut on the 12th day of January 1778. Her mother was a great grand-daughter of Rev. Pierre Peiret, a well known French Huguenot and founder of the first French Church (1687) in New York City.

Sally Isaacs was married to Judge George Tod on October 18th 1797. This union was blessed with the following known children:
Charlotte Lowe Tod (1799-1815)
Jonathan Ingersoll Tod (1801-1859)
Mary Isaacs Tod {m. McCurdy}(1802-1869)
David Tod (1805-1868)
Julia Ann Tod {m. Ford}(1807-1864)
Grace Ingersoll Tod {m. Perkins}(1811-1867)
George Tod, Jr. (1816-1881)

George Tod, a graduate of Yale College, Class of 1795; later would be appointed Secretary for the Territory of Ohio and move his family to Youngstown in 1801. In 1806, he was elected a judge on the Supreme Court of Ohio. During the War of 1812, he served as a Lieut. Colonel of the 19th Ohio Regiment.

Sally and Judge Tod raised their family on their large farm named "Brier Hill" outside of Youngstown.
