Gregory, Mamie Spears Reynolds, born to US Senator Robert Rice Reynolds and Evalyn Washington McLean Reynolds on October 15, 1942 in Washington, DC, passed on the morning of Saturday November 15, 2014 in Louisville, KY.

Mamie was the granddaughter of Evalyn Walsh McLean known as the last personal owner of the legendary Hope Diamond and God daughter to J Edgar Hoover and Federal Justice Frank Murphy.

Mrs. Gregory had been well-known in the social circles of our Nation's Capital Palm Beach and Asheville, NC and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also an award winning member of the American Kennel Club where she handled and owned many award winning breeds. As a young woman Mamie was owner and driver for the Reynolds Racing Team of Asheville, NC and she became the first woman to qualify for the Daytona 500. Along with dogs and racing Mamie was involved in and had successful lines of Miniature Horses Dairy and Pygmy goats. In the late 1960's Mamie and her husband Joseph were the first owners of the ABA Kentucky Colonels. She loved traveling with a passion having been around the world seven times in her lifetime.

Mamie has touched the lives and hearts of many and will be truly missed.

She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph E. Gregory; daughter, Evalyn Reynolds Gregory Strange and husband Joshua Strange; son, Joseph C. Gregory and partner Charles Rapp; and two special fur babies, Snugs and Bibbs.

The family is making private arrangements and will gratefully appreciate commemorative donations to the Kentuckiana Humane Society or the Arrow Fund.
