He was the victim of a homicide, as the result of a gun shot to the head. The murder occurred on Friday April 11, 1930 on the back porch of the Leguia "Louis" DeMario residence in Brockway.
Louis DeMario was later convicted of Voluntary Manslaughter in the matter, at the Jefferson County Courthouse on Aug. 29, 1930. He was sentenced to 6-12 years in solitary confinement in the Western Penitentiary.
