Edward Andersen immigrated from Norway to the United States about 1881. He was naturalized 1/20/1888 in San Francisco, California per his daughters Vivien and Dagmar's 1916 Passport applications. Family states he died at sea. His San Francisco Call obituary calls him Captain Edward Andersen, and California Harbour # 15 A. A. of M. and P.-- calls for members and officers to attend his funeral at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
He is listed as the husband of Marthine A Andersen, children: Edward, Hagbart, Vivian and Edna. Siblings: Julia Seter and August Andersen. Vivien and Edna Dagmar later become the Anker Sisters, then later change their name to the Oakland sisters, actresses and dancers. Hagbart is Herbert Maurice Andersen, Sr on his 1957 obit. 1916 Passport Applications have Vivien Andersen, Dagmar Andersen (Oakland Sisters) and their mother Mrs. Anna Marthine Peterson, planning a trip to London, England for theatrical work and then to Norway to visit family for up to two years. All state California as their permanent residence. Anna claims a husband in San Francisco, Ca.
