Gainesville Florida; Elva I.Hayes 91 of Gainesville Florida, formerly of Drury Township Rock Island County, passed away Thursday June 19, 2014 at North Florida Regional Medical Center.

Elva was born April 10, 1923 in Muscatine Iowa, a daughter of Millard and Lesta Dell Smith Millard. She married Elmer R."Red" Hayes on June 6, 1942 in Granview Iowa. He preceded her in death on February 24, 1982.

Elva was a homemaker. She and her husband Bud farmed in Rock Island County until 1976 when they retired and moved to Florida.

She was a former member of Trenton United Methodist Church. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and reading. Elva and Bud enjoyed camping and fishing. After Bud passed away, Elva lived at Millhopper Pines in Gainesville for 20 years, where she and a group of ladies enjoyed playing bingo.

Surviving are her sons and daughters in law, Michael and Donna Hayes, Trenton Florida; and William Hayes, Newberry Florida, former daughters in law, Eileen Hayes Ellsworth and Jennie Johnson; grandchildren, and spouses, Jeff(Lori) Hayes Bell Florida. Brenda Hunter, Austin Texas. Jim (Lori) Hayes, Davenport Iowa, and Carla(Kurt Zimmerman) Long Joy Ill. great grandchildren, Jessica, Max and Scout Hunter, Ashley Hayes, Bryce and Katie Long, Grace hHayes and Austin and Kayla Riggs and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Elva was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Clifford, Clayton, Victor, Lawrence and Carl Miller and sisters Helen Monson, Nina Reynolds, Grace Flaherty and Bernice Miller.
