Mrs. Hugh Gordon, nee Miss Williams, died at the residence of General Gordon, at Kirkwood, last night at 9 o'clock. Mrs. Gordon was the only sister of Mr. Howard Williams, of this city. She was a lady of rare Christian graces, and was highly esteemed and greatly loved by all who knew her. On Tuesday last she was in Altanta in apparent good health, but late yesterday evening was seized with a sudden illness, followed by a hemorrhage, which terminated in death. She leaves two children, a brokenhearted husband, a grief-stricken brother and a large circle of friends to mourn for the great loss that has befallen them. General and Mrs. Gordon, who are in New York, have been telegraphed the sad intelligence and will return immediately. Notice of the funeral will be published in this paper tomorrow.
