Joe Don Johnson, who resided in the Cox Valley Community, was called to Heaven Friday, April 4, 2014 in Paris, Arkansas, after a brief battle with small cell cancer.
He was born February 20, 1959 at the Bell Clinic in Tishomingo, Oklahoma to the late Howard R. Johnson and Mary Ann (McCabe) Johnson. He was 55 years old.

He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Jill Renee Andrews and his parents and grandparents.

Joe Don graduated from U.S. Grant High School in Oklahoma City in 1977. He was an auto mechanic by trade, but his true passion was playing music. "Joe Dog" as he was known to his many friends was a bass guitarist in several bands, the latest being "The G Strings" ( the G string being a major guitar string.) Joe Don was a member of the Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith, located in the Cox Valley Community.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 7th at Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith. Burial will be at Clark Chapel Cemetery in Cox Valley, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Paris.

He is survived by his long time companion, Elaine Beaver of Paris; his son, Ray William Johnson of California; two brothers, Mike Johnson and wife Patty of Illinois and Tommy Johnson and wife LuAnne of Oklahoma; two sisters, Karen Cravens and husband Don of Oklahoma and Pati Rhea of Alaska; and many friends and relatives. He will be deeply missed by those who knew him.

Pallbearers will be Zane Talley, Bo Shelton, Josh Watson, Ronnie Wurst, Jeff Coley, Mike Wright, Byron Lampkin, and Roger Barlow.
