Vance's Will
Will Book D: Page 387, State of North Carolina, County of Buncombe: I, Robert B. Vance now residing at Alexander in the County and state aforesaid do make and publish this my last will and testament ... to my son, David Vance ... I now reside in the Alexander Hotel ... which I own jointly with my son, James N. Vance ... to my son, Zebulon F. Vance ... to my daughter, Mary Cox ... for the use of her daughter, Harriet Cox ... to my wife, Lizzie R. Vance ... direct that my body be buried in Riverside Cemetery at Asheville, NC ... that my former wife remains be removed and reinterred next to me with room reserved for the burial of my wife, Lizzie ... Next follows a statement concerning land purchased from A. M. Alexander and mentioning the following names Wm. F. Davidson, H. C. Davidson, Theo Davidson, Miss Morrison Shepherd. In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal too this my last will and testament this the 21st day of February AD 1898. Signed: Robert V. Vance.
