Mattie M. Lebright, 90, who resided at 1504 C St. died in a Concord rest home October 11. She was born at Lebright Station, Tuolumme County, located 12 miles from Coulterville on the old Merced to Yosemite Valley stage route. She was graduated from Merced Teachers College at the age of 17 and dedicated her entire life to teaching. An elementary school was given her name in Hughson.
She leaves nieces Louise Thompson of Antioch; Alma Winkler, Lafayette; and Ann Makay of Stockton; nephews Leslie C. Young of Oakland and James Hidley of Modesto.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Higgins Chapel with the Rev. Oscar Gibson of Methodist church officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch Community Cemetery.
