Russell Blue, 75, lifelong resident and attorney, in Eagle Grove, died Sunday evening at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home following a long illness. He became a resident of the Rotary Ann Home in 1968 and was moved to the Rotary Ann Nursing Home when it was completed a few weeks ago.

He is survived by one brother, Robert D. Blue, of Eagle Grove. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Kastler-Babock-DeYoung Funeral Home and Rev. Donald Glazier officiated. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Blue studied law at Drake University, Des Moines, and was admitted to the practice of law in 1934 and was a partner of his brother, Robert Blue, until he retired in 1966.

He was active in all branches of the Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star and White Shrine and was a former member of the Eagle Grove Library Board.

OBITUARY

Russell C. Blue, son of Donald and Myrtle Blue, was born in Eagle Grove, Iowa, January 31, 1901 and was a life-long resident of the community.

He was graduated from the Eagle Grove High School and prior to engaging in the practice of law, was employed by the Chicago and Northwestern Railway as a caller and clerk in the storehouse. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Russell studied in the College of Law at Drake University and was admitted to the practice of law in Iowa in 1934 and was a partner of his brother, Robert D. Blue from that time until he retired in 1966. He was a member of the American Bar Association, the Iowa Bar Association, and the Wright County Bar Association.

Active in the Masonic Lodge, he was a 32nd Degree Mason, Master of the Blue Lodge and for a time, it's secretary. A fifty-year Mason, he was for many years a trustee of the lodge. He was Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star, Watchman of the Shephards of White Shrine. As a member of the Chapter and Council, he was honored with the title of Ish Sodi, "The Chosen One'', because of his personal qualities.

During World War Two, he was a member of the Rationing Board. Interested in books, he was a Trustee of the Public Library. For several years he was the Probation Officer for Wright County and was successful in aiding many young people in trouble to seek a different way of life.

He is survived by his brother, Robert D. Blue, Eagle Grove; one niece, Mrs. Douglas Dittman, Des Moines, four grand nephews and one grandniece.
