Mary Frances Parnell Perry at the age of 94 passed away surrounded by her family on November 13, 2013 at her home in Monroe, LA.

Visitation will be held in the parlor of First United Methodist Church, 3900 Loop Road, Monroe, LA on Friday, November 15, 2013 at 10:00 am followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am with Reverend Lynn Malone officiating.

Burial will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home.

Mary Frances was born in Dermott, AR to Governor Harvey Parnell and Mabel Winston Parnell.

She attended Gulf Park boarding school in Gulfport, MS, Hendrix College in Conway, AR, Sophie Newcomb College in New Orleans, LA where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She majored in Political Science and Economics and graduated from the University of Arkansas.

She married John William Perry on June 6, 1943 and resided in Perryville, LA later moving to Monroe in 1985.

She was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Alders Gates Sunday School Class, United Methodist Women, Junior League of Monroe, Monroe Garden Club, Charter Member of Monroe Garden Study League, Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames of America, The English Speaking Union and a member of the Thursday Bridge Club for 67 years. She exemplified true grace and love of God, family and life.

Mary Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Governor Harvey Parnell and Mabel Winston Parnell; husband, John William Perry; sister, Martha Adele Warren; and grandson, James Blackman.

She is survived by her children: son, Harvey Parnell Perry and wife, Carolyn; daughter, Paula Perry Blackman; daughter, Martha Perry Amman and husband, Frederic; son, John William Perry, Jr. and wife, Cyndy; fourteen grandchildren Kimberly Lowery and husband, Ricky; Parnell Perry and wife, Felicia; Amy Perry-McGee; Mary Kathryn Edwards and husband, Eric; Jonathan Perry and wife, Holley; Carrie Blackman; Caroline Turner; Mary Winston Blackman; Francie Briscoe and husband, Stuart; Perry Estis and husband, Brett; Rebecca Sonnier and husband, Kory; Kathryn Joyce and husband, Jeff; Dr. Jamie Joseph and husband, David; John William Perry III; and 20 great grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; and cousin, Dorothy Jean Thomason.

The family would like to express their love and gratitude to her caregivers Ruby Nash, Tiffany Ross, Myrtis Young, Dr. Stuart Melton and Sherrie Fletcher.

Honoring Mary Frances as Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
