Donald M. Bernard, Jr., 89, died Monday, October 28, 2013, at the Forest at Duke Retirement Community in Durham. He was born on December 8, 1923, in Austin, Texas.
Don married Betsy Hodges in 1946. He is survived by his wife and three children; daughter, Martha B. Scherer of Vienna, Austria; daughter, Carol B. Snyder of Huntingdon, PA; and son, Donald M. Bernard III of Houston, Texas; and nine grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Mary Bernard Pace of Fort Worth, Texas.
A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 2, at Overlook Cemetery, in Eden, North Carolina.
