Jack Walters age 81 of Howard City, Michigan, passed away September 26, 2013 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus.

He was born October 13, 1931 in Grand Rapids the son of Lloyd and Elmyra (Terwilliger) Walters.

During his working years he worked at GM in tool and die before being promoted to a supervisor. He worked at GM for 30.8 years before retiring in 1986. Jack loved to travel; he and his wife Bonnie have traveled to 49 states. He loved hunting, gardening, woodworking, and was fascinated by the Civil War and visited many battle sites. Jack designed and built three homes.

In 1949 he married Bonnie Walters who survives. Also surviving are his daughters Mary Carlisle, Sara (Patrick) Staley all of Howard City; two grandchildren Edward and Nathaniel; one brother Fred Walters of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Samuel and a sister Doris.

Funeral services will take place on Sunday at 1:30 PM at the Heritage United Methodist Church with Pastor Brad Brillhart officiating with burial in the Reynolds Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials to the Howard City Historical society may be left at the Heckman Funeral Home where friends may call Saturday, September 28, 2013 from 3-6 pm and prior to services at the church. The family is being serviced by the Heckman Funeral Home in Howard City.
