Laura Julia Sterette McAdoo was born in Georgia. Her first husband was Oscar Triggs. They had one child, Edmond, who grew up to be a writer. Her second husband was Pierre Gagey, a French doctor. She lived in Paris from 1905-1911. In 1993 her remains were moved from Batignolles Cemetery in Paris to Pere Lachaise Ossuary after the cemetery lost contact with the family for payment. Her original grave marker memorial was thus destroyed.
