MESA, Ariz. — John Flood of Mesa Ariz., formerly of the Effingham area, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at Banner Garden Hospice, Mesa, Ariz.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mariposa Gardens, 400 S. Power Road, Mesa, Ariz. 85206.

He was born March 19, 1938, to James E. and Marie A. (Schwerdt) Flood. He served in the U.S. Army and farmed in the Effingham area for many years. After moving to Mesa, John worked for Boeing for several years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with family and friends.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Flood (Gauer) of Mesa; sons, James (Sandra) Flood of Mesa, John Flood of Phoenix and Philip Vickery of Melborne, Fla.; daughters, Anne (Barry) Hamill of Mesa, Cynthia (John) Benson of Aurora and Catherine (Kevin) Hanaratty of Aurora; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James.
