Ruth Emma Odegard, 90, of LeMars died Saturday, July 11,1998 at the Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.
Memorial services were held on Tuesday, July 14 at 3:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars. The Rev. Larry Felt officiated. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City under the direction of the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars.
Ruth was born Dec. 9, 1907 in Taylor Falls, Minn., the daughter of Albert and Anna (Johnson) Moberg. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
She graduated from Taylor Falls High School and attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn. and Primary Training School in St. Paul, Minn. She taught kindergarten and primary grades for several years. She also taught piano and violin.
She married Edfield Odegard on July 14, 1939 in Taylor Falls. The couple lived in several communities in the midwest.
Mrs. Odegard was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Sarah Circle. She taught Sunday School and directed the childrens Christmas productions and the children's choir.
Survivors include her husband; a son and his wife, David and Nynke Odegard of The Netherlands; a daughter and her husband, Lori and Richard Pick of Orange City; a sister, Margaret Rauk of St. Paul; six grandchildren, Jason, Angela, Joel and Brian Fick and Ingrid and Erik Odegard; and three sisters-in-law, Hazel White, Leonore Moberg and Linnea Moberg.
She was preceded in death by six brothers.
