John Joseph Kirchner, 73, of North Platte passed away June 10, 2013, at his home.
John was born to Joe J. and Minnie (Zwiener) Kirchner on March 5, 1940, at Bellwood. He graduated in 1958 from St. Agnes Academy in Alliance and attended Chadron State College.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1962-1966, and served on the USS Roos- evelt. John returned to Alliance and worked for Faber Electric and later moved to North Platte in 1968, and was involved with Snell Services. John was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, American Legion, Elks and Nebraska Diplomats.
He is survived by two sisters, Norma (Bill) Will of Huron, S.D., and Meraldeen Hough, of Bellwood; numerous nieces, nephews, friends and his Snell Services family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Harold, Rich and Carroll.
Rosary will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday, June 14, with Mass of Christian Burial following at 2 p.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in North Platte. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. (MDT) Saturday, June 15, at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Alliance with military honors. His casket will be closed. Carpenter Memorial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
