HORTENSE OSBURN CALVERT
Hortense Osburn Calvert was born February 20, 1893 in Red River County, Texas. She passed away at her son's home in Montgomery, Texas, on March 8, 1999. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pat Neff Calvert.
Mrs. Calvert was a descendant of a Texas Pioneer family who moved to the Abilene area in 1900. the Osburn home was built in Colony Hill. She was a graduate of Abilene High School and had attended Ball High School in Galveston. She also attended Texas Women's College in Denton.
She was married in her old home to Albert Clark Locke in 1919, and then lived in Houston until 1955. Soon after the death of her husband, she moved back to Abilene where she later married Pat Neff Calvert.
Mrs. Calvert is survived by one son, Osburn Clark Locke, and his wife Florence; three grandchildren, Linda Fleming and husband Terry, Steve Locke and wife Ann, and Christie Christopher and husband Al; five great grandchildren, Tiffany and Clark Fleming, Tony Locke, and Allison and Anna Christopher, and several nephews and nieces.
Mrs. Calvert was a lifelong member of First Christian Church and served as a Deaconess and a pianist for the Friendship Class for many years. She was a member of the Abilene Woman's Club and the Eastern Star Chapter 30 of Abilene.
Her pallbearers will be Steve Locke, Terry Fleming, Al Christopher, Tony Locke, Clark Fleming, and Kelly Dunlap.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Thursday at First Christian Church in Abilene, with Rev. Robert C. Allen and Dr. Chris Diebel officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 U.S. Hwy 277 South.
