Pottsville Republican Tuesday April 19, 1949
Charles Hornberger, 74, of 1428 Walnut Street, Ashland, died in Fountain Springs Hospital, Tuesday morning at 4 o'clock of complications. He was ill for two years and a patient at the hospital since April 11.
Born September 28, 1874 in Hegins, he resided in Ashland for 27 years where he was employed as a teamster for the Goyne Steam Pump Co. for many years. He was a member of Zion Reformed Church and for 40 years, was a member of the POS of A of Helfenstein. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Peter Hornberger.
Surviving are his wife, the former Florence Weikel and these children: Clement, Shamokin; Walter, Mrs. Frank Klusman, and Mrs. Carl Klauger, all of Lavelle; the following brothers and sisters: James, Helfenstein; Samuel, Gowen City; Mrs. Lillie Weikel, Shamokin, and Mrs. George Skelton, Helfenstein. Nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral is on Friday afternoon from his late home with interment in Citizens Cemetery, Lavelle. Rev. Melvin Walper will officiate. J A Rothermel, Klingerstown is funeral director.
