Ruth Ubben Chance, 87, of Stuart, passed away December 28, 2008 at the Stuart Community Care Center.
Ruth was born March 6th 1921 in Cedar Point, Kansas to Diedrich H. Ubben and Susan Conyers Ubben. She graduated from Peabody Kansas in 1939. Ruth married Leo Chance in August 1939 and to this union six children were born. After their marriage they settled in Stuart. Leo passed away in September 1975. In April of 1982 Ruth married Charles "Knobbs" Couch. She enjoyed baking, sewing quilts and collecting cookie jars. She enjoyed her family that included 6 kids, 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and many friends and brothers and sisters.
Survivors include: her sons: Phillip and Rosemary Chance (Menlo), Dick and Sandy Chance (Matherville, IL), Jerry and Kathy Chance (Des Moines) and Larry Chance (Palm Bay, Fla.); her daughter Pat Ream (Cedar Rapids); 8 grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren Janette and Jim Eichstadt and their children, Kirstin and Zach Tharp and David Eichstadt (Cedar Rapids). Jody Ream and her partner Michelle (Seattle, Wa.). Robin and Dennis Hynek and their children Gage and David (Hiawatha). Christine and Joe Welsh and their children Jessica Welsh, Josh and Jennifer Welsh (IL.) Richard and Heather Chance and their children Amanda, Zach and Diedrich (Grand Mound, Ia). She is preceded in death by Leo Chance, Knobbs Couch, a daughter Susan McGregor, 3 brother and 3 sisters.
