Sarah Gilpin was the daughter of John Dickinson Gilpin and Sarah Taylor Gilpin. She married John Brinton Heyburn on September 27, 1849 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Sarah was the mother of Idaho Senator Weldon Brinton Heyburn, as well as six other children: Gideon, Georgiana, Elwood, Rebecca, Marie (Mary), and William.
