Norman "Norm" Cunningham Scott was born to Hugh Doggett Scott Sr., banker, and Lola Haynie Scott (nee Lola Fitzallen Haynie) on February 3, 1915 in Virginia.

Norm was the youngest son of Hugh and wife Lola. He grew up in a close knit family, with an older half brother, who became a US Senator, Hugh Doggett Scott Jr. b. 1900 and sister Alice Mitchell Hill (nee Scott) b. 1910.

He married Elizabeth "Beth" Flick Alstetter.

He followed in his father's footsteps, and became a banker, becoming the President at the Mountain National Bank in Clifton Forge.

His last home address was listed as 24422 Clifton Forge, Clifton Forge City, Virginia, United States of America. He passed away on December 2, 1992.
