My uncle's companion
Madolyn Kathryn Putnam, 87, formerly of Greenville, passed away peacefully, Saturday afternoon, January 26, 2013, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland and Millie Kate Hardee Gore.
Mrs. Putnam was a faithful, loving and devoted mother to her children. She was a member of Pendleton Street Baptist Church. In recent years, she lived with and was lovingly cared for by her daughter Linda and her husband, Eugene in Mocksville, NC.
She is survived by her children, sons, Reverend Grover Putnam, and Michael G. Putnam; daughters, Linda P. Garland, Patricia Putnam, Denise P. Douglas, Lisa P. Harris and Ginger P. Pop; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Billy Eugene Putnam in infancy and her brother, William Jennings Gore.
Mrs. Putnam is at The Mackey Mortuary. A private graveside service for the family will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
