GILBERT - Reverend John Henry Kelly, 82, passed away Saturday, September 18, 2010. Funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 21, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Kelly's Family Cemetery with Pastor Eddie Moyer and special speaker Johnny Boatwright officiating. Active pallbearers will be Brandon Smith, Matthew Smith, John Hammond, Michael Beaudet, Michael Kelly and Al Kelly. Honorary pallbearers are James Smith, Tony Taylor, Roy Huffman, Phil McCarthy, Troy Hartley and Bobby Harmon.
Rev. Kelly was born in Samaria, SC son of the late Otis Odell Kelly and Frances Etherlee Brown Kelly. He was a pastor and carpenter. He was a member of Kelly's Chapel. He enjoyed fishing and farming. He was a S.C. Army National Guard and U.S. Army Veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Jean Bennett Kelly; son and daughter-in-law, James "P-Nut" (Peggy) Kelly; daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce (Ron) Trotter; Barbara Kelly; Linda Sease; Lesa (David) Hodges; brothers, W.C. Kelly; Koot Kelly; Carson Kelly; sisters, Edna Senterfeit; Frances Alexander; Betty Steen; Shirley Kelly; step-daughters, Harlie Nettles; Carolyn (Luther) Smith; and Shirley Smith; fourteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday, September 20, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home, other times at the home of his son at 4441 Two Notch Road, Batesburg, SC.
