Abigail's husband, David Cole Sr., served as a captain in the Revolutionary War in the First New Jersey Grenadiers. In 1800 they sold their land to Ezekiel Cole and Jacob Cole of Readington and moved to Ovid, Seneca County, New York.

"Worn by honorable age and toils of war,
the Patriot Soldier Sleeps."
