MRS. CHAS. REQUIST BURIED SATURDAY
Mrs. Charles A. Requist, 77, died last Thursday evening, August 2, at Murphy Memorial Hospital, after an illness of 10 days. Death was due to complications of peritonitis.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Red Oak with Rev. Raynold Lindwall officiating, assisted by Rev. A. Leonard Smith of Stanton. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery with Sellergren's Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pall bearers were A. Joe Anderson, Gust Ekedahl, Otto Larson, Carl Barr, John Lindstet, and Lieu Dilley. At a brief ceremony at the home Mrs. C. V. Bergren sang a solo and at the church, Mrs. E. Vincent anderson and Miss Margaret Ostrom sang a duet. Organist was Mrs. Clarence Fridolph. In charge of flowers were Miss Emma Anderson, Mrs. John Lindstet, Mrs. Carl Barr, and Mrs. Otto Larson.
Charlotte Eugenia, daughter of Olaf and Charlotte Johnson, was born April 7, 1868 Segerstad, Västergötland, Sweden. She lived there until 1885 when she came to Kansas and later went to Orleans, Nebraska. In 1894, she came to Iowa and March 13, 1895, she was united in marriage to Charles Requist at Omaha, Nebraska, and the family had lived in this county since. They moved to Red Oak in 1940.
Mrs. Requist was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, and a member of Royal Neighbors.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Ivan of Stanton and Dale from Red Oak; two daughters, Mrs. Effie Anderson and Mrs. Eunice C. Bergren of Stanton; 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. four grandsons are in service overseas.
Other survivors include a sister, Mrs. Will King of Stanton, Nebraska; and 2 brothers, Ed C. Johnson of Orleans, Nebraska and Ivar Johnson of Beatrice, Nebraska.
